Jeremy Saffer & Gage Young Photo Workshop Highlights!
I had the opportunity to head to NJ this weekend to attend the workshop that Jeremy Saffer and Gage Young put on. Things started Saturday Morning at 10AM with a whole lesson on every aspect of being a photographer in the music industry. From how to book shoots and get photo passes, to learning how to do follow up with a client and to get paid for your photos!
Sunday brought the heat and the hot weather. I'm glad it didn't rain. That would have definitely but a damper on things. Here's some images from day 2 of the workshop - getting to shoot the 2 guest bands ourselves!
I know we all had a great time over the course of the weekend. We had some awesome thai food from a local thai restaurant that was right down the street. The syndicate building had so many good locations to shoot at and we all got some great pictures to take back home with us. To wrap things up, Gage showed us some of his editing techniques and how he comes to a final edit with his photos. Most of all, we all got to do some great networking with other photographers. It's about helping each other out and learning from each other. Each photog there had their own personal style and experience. It's great to see what we all do when we shoot. No one shoots the exact same way.
If you get a chance to go to this intense workship, most definitely hit it up. Both of these guys have a lot of experience and have done so much work in the music industry. Their input is invaluable. I have learned a lot over the past couple workshops, It's been a great resource for me.

Hey all!
I'm here with the rest of the FortySixty Photography crew to do a commercial shoot. We all met up for the first time yesterday. Dave Allen came down from Ohio to chill with us and do some photos. Here's a couple snaps from yesterday's activities:

I think we have a great dynamic team going on and we're all excited for this weeks shoot. Today, we did some more prop shopping and gathering the rest of what we needed!
Stay Tuned for some more updates!

Light with a Beauty Dish - Alien Bees
I've decided that I really need to blog more, and have some more helpful content. So, here goes:

Over the past year, I've learned a lot with each one of my shoots. Even more so, I've learned more about the light modifiers that I do have (22" white beauty dish, large softbox and large octabox). I've used my beauty dish a lot over the course of these past 11 months and have become quite comfortable using it. I also find it very easy to work with on location, since it's less prone to wind, when used on a boom, compared to a large softbox or octabox.
"Knowing how certain light modifiers work, why they work & how to use them to their fullest potential is key. Knowledge is key. Even more so when experience is coupled with knowledge."
I've found out what works & what doesn't work. More often, I have learned that I still have a lot to learn! Today, I'm sharing with you all my recent experiences with the AlienBee (Paul C. Buff) 22" white beauty dish.

More Pics from H2O and Other News
Hey all! I've finally been back in CT for a few days so I figured it was time to update my good ol' blog.
First, here's some additional photos from H2O:
Those are just some of the captures that I got while being down in Maryland.
I do have a few senior portraits to post up and share with you all, I'm definitely looking for feedback on them!
I have a few interesting shoots lined up for the rest of October. After talking with the band members of several bands, we 've come up with a bunch of amazing and fantastical ideas! One shoot is going to be in NH, that's a state that I haven't shot in yet. I'll be sure to keep you all posted as to who I'm shooting and when!
I think I'll blog a few more times today to share some extra photos that I haven't posted up on my flickr!

So Many shoots this week
This week is becoming chock full of photoshoots. I have a bunch of Senior portraits lined up, along with a couple bands to shoot. If you guys are from the area, you just might know these bands - Morning Of The Tragedy and Surrender the Dance Floor. I believe Surrender The Dance Floor just got signed, so congrats to them. I'm really stoked for MOTT's photoshoot because of the location we got picked out. Should be an epic one!
Just had my first shoot since being back from Pennsylvania. The time finally came to shoot Our Lives in Motion's photos. They've been making great strides with their music and they are some great local talent. They're making music in an area that is known for just one genre of rock. These guys are making groundbreaking moves. Anyway, Here's one shot from that shoot I will be posting up at least 1-2 more!

Andy’s Band
Lisbon, CT | blog.peteyphotography.com
I finally updated my blog with addtional shots from my previous shoots!
This shoot was the first of it's kind for me. I've shot in the cold, snow, wind, and now...rain.
We were hoping that rain would let up for at least a couple frames but it wouldn't let up. I covered my lights up with Wal-Mart plastic bags and a blanket over my beauty dish LOL! It was the most haggard set-up ever.
We set up and did a few quick shots for my buddy Andrew's band. If you view large, you should be able to see the rain drops as they were falling. I was hoping we'd be able to catch a few!
Andrew's working on a SICK myspace layout for the band and I'll post up the link when they're all set.
I really wanted to be more creative with lighting on this shoot but the rain wouldn't tolerate it. I didn't want to risk getting my lights anymore wet than what they already were. I was diggin' the blue tones, thinking they'll go along with the rain.
So, this was just a quick set up and shoot.
Thanks everyone! This made Explore!

The Strand Hair Salon
Woodstock, CT | blog.peteyphotography.com
A local salon contacted me about doing some photos for them. They are not your average salon. They liked my band photos and wanted something like that to promote their business and for use on myspace
I've known the owner for a while now so it was a blast working with of the great hairdressers there.
We found this great location to go shoot at. They wanted edgy photos to go along with their shops edgy style. Some great work comes out of that place. Anyway, the location that we shot at was an old lumbar yard that has been converted into a piano shop. We headed round back to find this spot. I was really happy with the shoot and they loved what they saw on camera.
I really liked how they coordinated their clothing pretty well. All wearing black shirts and jeans that matched really well, along with their footwear.
I'm trying to stray away from this POV since I've posted up a lot of those recently, but I couldn't help it for this one.
Just picked up a pro account.
